We've never been fans of chemical fertilizers at The Manure Shop. While looking for alternative, chemical-free fertilizers to use in our gardens we hunted for the most natural fertilizer available. As it turns out, the solution was right in our own yard in the form of our rabbits and vermicompost worms.

We offer high quality, 100% vegetarian-based organic rabbit manure, worm castings, and mealworm frass (castings.) Our operation is small, but that is to your benefit as we can offer the best quality control. We feed our animals healthy, balanced diets which means their leavings are packed with nutrients, perfect for fertilizing plants.

Unlike synthetic fertilizers, natural fertilizers, as the name implies, are made to work with nature's balance. They are inherently slow-release so they won't burn your plants like chemical or some strong manures (like chicken manure.) Additionally they contain beneficial microbes, a wide range of nutrients, and microorganisms that help with soil balance and absorption of nutrients by plants.

If you have poor soil in your area also consider natural fertilizers as a soil amendment. The composition of rabbit pellets in particular will help to aerate soil and give it texture.

​

Natural fertilizers are also a great choice since they are not as immediately water-soluble as chemicals so they don't run off into lakes and other water sources. That feature keeps water clean and the nutrition in your garden where it belongs.
